The most critical task for the orofacial pain clinician is to
correctly diagnosis the patient’s pain disorder. One of the
most powerful diagnostic tools used by the clinician to assist in
differential diagnosis is the anesthetic syringe. Anesthetic
blocking of tissues can quickly and reliably differentiate sites of
pain from sources of pain. In this lecture, Dr. Okeson
discusses the indications and contraindications of local
anesthetic injections. Four cardinal rules are presented that
need to be followed by all practitioners who plan to inject
tissues. This lecture highlights the considerations and
techniques used for muscle injections. Each muscle is
described, along with a review of the significant anatomy that
needs to be appreciated before injecting an area. Illustrations
and video clips are used to demonstrate the techniques.
Myofascial trigger point injections are specifically highlighted in
this lecture.

Lectures #12 and #13 represent part 1 and part 2 of a series on muscle, nerve block
and intracapsular injection techniques. If you would like both DVDs at a reduce rate,
