Lecture # 13
“The Use of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Injections: Part 2:
Nerve blocks and Intracapsular Injections.”
(42 minutes) (2005)
This lecture is part two of a description of injection techniques
used to help the clinician diagnosis, and in some instances, treat
orofacial pain disorders. In this lecture, Dr. Okeson discusses
the indications and contraindications for various nerve blocks
that will help provide insight to the patient’s pain disorder. Each
nerve block is described and the relevant anatomy presented.
Illustrations and video clips are used to demonstrate the
techniques. The proper type of anesthetic is discussed along
with other medications that may be used. The auriculotemporal
nerve block is highlighted and demonstrated in several video
clips. The sphenopalatine block and intracapsular injections are
also reviewed.
Lectures #12 and #13 represent part 1 and part 2 of a series on muscle, nerve block
and intracapsular injection techniques. If you would like both DVDs at a reduce rate,
